“My beloved is mine, and I am his.” Song of Solomon 2:16

“I will betroth you to Me forever; yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and justice, in loving-kindness and mercy; I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, and you shall know the LORD.” Hosea 2:19-20

By faith in the blood of Christ we are accepted and closely united to Him as our Bridegroom. By that, we daily eat His flesh, drink His blood, and are sprinkled all over. And need there is of a daily sprinkling, that our persons and services may be accepted and that our sinful souls may be washed and renewed in the all-purifying fountain; since the best of our works, our prayers and praises, our duties and graces, are all unclean until washed in the blood of Jesus. (See Hebrews 9:19 — 21.) But if sprinkled with His blood, we shall desire to be united to His person and to call Him our beloved. Nor will union to Jesus satisfy us, for we shall want close and intimate communion with Him. O the blessedness of being betrothed to Jesus now, for then we shall be openly acknowledged and be publicly married to Him when He comes in His own glory, and all the holy angels with Him!

Jesus, crucified for me!
All to happiness aspire,
Only to be found in Thee;

You to praise, and You to know,
Constitute our bliss below;
You to see, and You to love,
Constitute our bliss above.

Lord, it is not life to live,
If Your presence You deny;
Lord, if You, Your presence give,
