That’s My King, by S. M. Lockridge, 1976

Dr. S. M. (Shadrach Meshach) Lockridge (March 7, 1913 – April 4, 2000) served as pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in San Diego, California, from 1953 to 1993.  He preached worldwide at crusades, revivals, religious rallies, and evangelistic conferences reaching more than 100,000 people with truth and hope in the Lord Jesus Christ.  He was also active in the civil rights movement.

In 1976, Lockridge delivered a sermon titled, “Amen.”  He is probably best remembered for the closing words of that sermon in which he gave a recitation of who Jesus is and a challenge of “do you know him?”  Listen/watch/read the truth and hope that Lockridge preached in 1976. Be encouraged in the message that was true when he preached it, is still true today, and will be true forevermore!

The Bible says…

My King is the King of the Jews. He is the King of Israel—He’s the King of righteousness—He’s the King of the ages—He’s the King of heaven—He’s the King of glory—He’s the King of kings and He is the Lord of lords.

Now that’s my King!

Do you know Him?

No means a measure can define His limitless love. Well, well, He’s enduringly strong—He’s entirely sincere—He’s eternally steadfast—He’s immortally graceful—He’s imperially powerful—and He’s impartially merciful.

Do you know Him?

He’s god’s son—He’s the sinner’s Savior—He’s the centerpiece of civilization—He’s unparalleled—He’s unprecedented. Well, He’s the loftiest idea in literature—He’s the highest personality in philosophy—He’s the fundamental doctrine of true theology.

Do you know Him?

He supplies strength for the weak—He’s available for the tempted and the tried—He sympathizes and He saves—He heals the sick—He cleansed the lepers—He forgives sinners—He discharges debtors—He delivers the captives—He defends the feeble—He blesses the young—He serves the unfortunate—He regards the aged—He rewards the diligent, and He beautifies the meek.

Do you know Him?

My king is the key of knowledge—He’s the wellspring of wisdom—He’s the doorway of deliverance—He’s the pathway of peace—He’s the roadway of righteousness—He’s the highway of holiness—He’s the gateway of glory.

Do you know Him?

His light is matchless—His goodness is limitless—His mercy is everlasting—His love never changes—His word is enough—His grace is sufficient—His reign is righteous—His yoke is easy, and His burden is light

Well, I wish I could describe Him to you.

God also has highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name… at the name ofJesus every knee shall bow…every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Phil 2:9-11)

Do You Know Jesus?

The Bible clearly states that everyone has sinned and fallen short of God's glory (Romans 3:23). It also emphasizes that while the wages of sin is death, God offers us the incredible gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23).

If you have not yet accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, know that today is the day of salvation (Acts 28). Turn away from your sinful past and turn to Jesus. Remember, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ will be saved” (Romans 10:13). Don’t wait—find hope and redemption!
