May the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ richly bless you as this new day dawns, bringing to your mind the awesome wonder of who He is, what He has done, what He is doing, and what He is going to do. All glory and honor and praise be to our God as this new day begins.

When one thinks of the creation, this psalm should come to mind,

  • “The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.” (Psalm 19:1)

And when one thinks of the words of that verse, it is likely to bring to mind the words of this great old hymn, “How Great Thou Art.”

  • “O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder
  • Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made,
  • I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
  • Thy pow’r thro’-out the universe displayed”

When you take a moment, and “consider all the worlds [His] hands have made,” awesome wonder is the result and your soul should sing:

  • “Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee;
  • How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
  • Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee;
  • How great Thou art, how great Thou art!”

Surely we look and see and all too often take for granted “the heavens . . . and their expanse.” And we forget or fail to acknowledge that these are the very “work of His hands,” that are “telling of the glory of [our] God.”

Forgive us Father when we so frequently fail to “consider” all that You have done. Forgive us when, In our busy lives, our many comings and goings, we often fail to make time to be in awesome wonder of all that You have made.

Peer out the window into the heavens that tell of His glory and let your heart sings “How great Thou art!”

Think of how majestic He is and how high and lifted up He is, how pure and clean and beautiful, and once again bow in “wonder” of how He considers us, we who are so small in comparison to His vast expanse, so unclean and stained with sin. Once again, the old hymn comes to mind:

  • “And when I think that God, His Son not sparing,
  • Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in,
  • That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
  • He bled and died to take away my sin.”

Our only response can be,

  • “Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee!
  • How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
  • Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;
  • How great Thou art! How great Thou art!”

Have a good day . . . and for just a moment, if not more, take some time to stop and consider, in awesome wonder, the heavens and the expanse.  Consider their very message to us and then, at least for a moment, let your soul sing, “my Savior God, how great Thou art!
