“My Right Hand Man!”

This saying comes from several biblical references. Meaning: A person given authority and honor; a most trusted advisor who is always close at hand. To be at someone’s right hand is a good and rewarding position.

The name Benjamin (Genesis 35:18) means son of my right hand. It comes from the Hebrew word “ben” meaning son and “yamiyn” meaning the right hand or side of a person, object, or locale.

Psalm 16:11 Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Psalm 80:17 Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.

Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Acts 7:55 But he [Stephen], being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God.

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Turn the Talk

Jesus commissioned us to tell others about who He is and the saving grace He offers. So, we must listen for opportunities to "turn the talk." Hearing a common saying, or using one as you speak, opens the "door" to sharing its origin in the Bible and talking about the relevance of the Bible and the significance of the Person who wrote it!

Who Said That? can also serve as a “tract” for your non-believing family and friends. It’s simply a look at the origins of sayings we all use...until you get to the last few pages. The book closes with the Hebrew saying, “Yada, yada, yada,” which means “you know, you know, you know.”

The statement is then made: “God knows [yada] you,” and the question is asked, “Do you know [yada] Him?” The question is followed by a gospel presentation and an invitation to repent and trust in Christ, making this book a simple way to share the gospel with an unsaved and often uninterested or unwilling-to-listen friend or family member.
