When asked the question, “What is the difference between the Christian God, and the gods of the other religions?” Pastor R.C. Sproul answered, “The main difference is this: “The God of Christianity exists.”
Indeed, Christianity is unique among the world’s belief systems. Nothing illustrates this fact more clearly than the truth that Jesus Christ had the power to raise the dead, and He Himself came back to life after He died. Jesus beat death– and that is unique!
Humans are well familiar with the concept of restoration. People restore antique furniture, vintage cars, and Victorian houses. In a restoration, broken things get fixed, and obsolete parts may get updated. Restoration entails bringing something back to its original condition. The Christian concept of resurrection, on the other hand, goes even beyond this.
The New Testament resurrection of Christ depicts Jesus not only alive, but glorified. This was more than the re-animation of a corpse. Resurrection involves both identity and body– the perfection of both identity and body.
“Resurrection” is a crucial component of the Christian faith, and its uniqueness among other world religions is often overlooked. The Biblical worldview is unique in that:
- Jesus promised a resurrected body for those who come to Him in faith.
- After His death, Jesus Himself was raised by the His power and the power of the Father and Spirit (all three Persons of the Godhead were involved with the defeat of sin and death).
- Jesus’ resurrection proved Him as Savior, just as He said it would (Matthew 12:39-40, Romans 1:4).
Another Proof of Resurrection
Despite arguments and alternative theories from skeptics and doubters, one of the most convincing arguments for the truth of the Lord’s resurrection lies in the transformed lives of the disciples. The disciples had been heartbroken by Jesus’ death and were fearful in the three days that followed. But after Jesus’ resurrection the disciples were transformed into passionate messengers of the Gospel. Nothing they experienced—persecution, prison, death—caused them to change their story or to deny that they had seen the risen Jesus. Within a very short time, their consistent preaching of Jesus’ victory over death would transform the world.
Atheists, skeptics, and determined unbelievers have spent years trying to explain away Jesus’ resurrection with theories, ideas, and speculations. But in order to account for all the facts, their stories become increasingly more complex and unbelievable.
After death on the cross, Jesus came back to life, just as He had promised. That’s a simple explanation—no theory, no fabrication, required.
Christ’s resurrection gives humanity a rock-solid promise and a personally comforting assurance. “Because Jesus is alive, each believer will live also” (John 14:19). And this reality of eternal life is offered to all! The gift of salvation and the Giver Himself are each as close by as a prayer. This truly is the Good News.

Do You Know Jesus?
The Bible clearly states that everyone has sinned and fallen short of God's glory (Romans 3:23). It also emphasizes that while the wages of sin is death, God offers us the incredible gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23).
If you have not yet accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, know that today is the day of salvation (Acts 28). Turn away from your sinful past and turn to Jesus. Remember, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ will be saved” (Romans 10:13). Don’t wait—find hope and redemption!
