Do not let your adornment be merely outward — arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel — rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. 1 Peter 3:3-4

“In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” Isaiah 30:15

A Christian’s best accouterments and festival attire are called “the new man, tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, long-suffering, and above all, love” (Colossians 3:10, 12, 14). These are our true ornaments, and we should seek to be dressed in them. Reader! Which do you adorn most — body or soul?

O meek and quiet Lamb of God, justly I blush before You when I consider my impatience and resentful feelings. I humbly beseech You to forgive me these my transgressions and to soften me down into a better temper. Deliver me from peevish and wrathful propensities and grant that in all inward and outward troubles, I may prove that the same mind is in me, which was in You. Make me daily more and more like a lamb, that on all occasions, grievous or joyful, I may be duly composed and show that excellent heavenly ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, not in many words — but in reality and power. Lord, teach me so to dress, so to speak, and so to act, that I may adorn the doctrine of God my Savior in all things.

The Bible clearly states that everyone has sinned and fallen short of God's glory (Romans 3:23). It also emphasizes that while the wages of sin is death, God offers us the incredible gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23).

If you have not yet accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, know that today is the day of salvation (Acts 28). Turn away from your sinful past and turn to Jesus. Remember, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ will be saved” (Romans 10:13). Don’t wait—find hope and redemption!
