[Each year the third Tuesday in October is the Pro-Life Day of Silent Solidarity.  It is a day to remember the sanctity of all life, especially that of an unborn child.  It’s a day to remember and reflect.  However, we know that every day should be a day to remember and thank God for the precious gift of life.  Let’s understand why all human life is precious and is also sanctified (set apart for God). Let’s take a stand to protect the lives of those in the womb.]

The answer to the question is “both.”  

In human development, a fetus is a prenatal human between the embryonic state and birth… The use of the term “fetus” generally implies that an embryo has developed to the point of being recognizable as a human; this is the point usually taken to be the ninth week after fertilization. A fetus is also characterized by the presence of all the major body organs, though they will not yet be fully developed and functional and some not yet situated in their final anatomical location. ¹

What medically is called a fetus is a living, breathing human being so we call he or she is a baby, even before birth.

Reasons for the Sanctity of Life

Are you prepared to give reasons why human life in the womb is sacred?  Can you answer these questions?

3. When does a baby’s heart start to beat?
4. When can you see the eyes, ears, fingers, and toes?

7. How much does a baby move in the womb?
8. When can a baby hear?
9. Do babies dream before birth?
