How many people swell with pride and vanity for the things that are admired in the world? How fearful are many of having their houses poorly furnished or themselves poorly clothed? And how often do people yield to the haughtiness and ill-nature of others and show a submissive temper? All because one dares not pass for a poor-spirited person in the opinion of the world!

How many wish to be real Christians and would carefully practice Christian temperance and sobriety, were it not for the censure which the world passes upon such a life? Others have frequent intentions of living up to the standards of the Christian religion but are frightened by considering what the world would say of them. Thus the impression received from living in the world enslaves our minds. Many dare not attempt to be eminent in the sight of God and holy angels for fear of being little in the eyes of the world.

Reader, how is it with you? What can the world do for you in sickness, death, and judgment? Make serious reflection on this. And with prayer to God, may the snares of the world upon your life be broken.

Do You Know Jesus?

The Bible clearly states that everyone has sinned and fallen short of God's glory (Romans 3:23). It also emphasizes that while the wages of sin is death, God offers us the incredible gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23).

If you have not yet accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, know that today is the day of salvation (Acts 28). Turn away from your sinful past and turn to Jesus. Remember, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ will be saved” (Romans 10:13). Don’t wait—find hope and redemption!
