“Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:8

For this crown faith earnestly strives; yet the believer acknowledges, and will forever acknowledge, that his enjoyment of it must be resolved into sovereign grace. For if he loves the Lord and His appearing, the Lord first loved him; and he ascribes all his strength and courage and victories to that Divine arm which alone brings salvation.

Oh, to have the well-grounded and assured faith of the apostle and to be able to say, in the spirit of such a hope, “I know that my Redeemer lives!” My Redeemer comes. Jesus will soon come, according to His word, and will judge the living and dead at His appearing, rendering to everyone according to his works. Then the crowns will be distributed. Then will everyone have praise of God. Then Jesus will be glorified in His saints and admired in all them that believe.

Lord Jesus, hasten Your coming and Your kingdom; and may I, through Your free grace, receive glory, honor, and immortality then.
