The Bible Tells of the Birth of Jesus

Oh Come All Ye Faithful isn’t just a great Christmas Carol. It’s like a beautiful party invitation. You are invited to come and adore the newborn king, and this invitation came directly from Heaven itself. Imagine being one of those Shepherds out at your job on a quiet night, and suddenly the sky lights up, and you are face to face with an Angel inviting you to come and see the Messiah’s birth. 

In this country, there were many Shepherds that lived out in the fields tending their flocks at night when, behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were afraid. But the angel said,

“Do not be afraid; I bring you good tidings of great joy that will be for all the people. For on this day, born to you in the city of David, a savior, Christ the Lord.” 

And suddenly, with the angel, there was a multitude of heavenly hosts all praising and glorifying God, saying,

“Glory to God in the highest and on Earth peace and goodwill to all men. For this will be the sign to you: you will find a babe wrapped in swaddling clothing lying in a manger.”

When the Angels left to return to heaven, the Shepherds looked to one another and said,

“Come, let us go and find this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.”

So off they went in haste to Bethlehem, and there they found Mary and Joseph and the babe lying in the manger.  After they had seen him, they went off and spread widely the saying that was told to them concerning the child, and all that heard it marveled at these things the Shepherds told them. But Mary kept these things and pondered them in her heart whilst the Shepherds went back from whence they came, praising and glorifying God for all that they had seen and heard as it was told to them.
