Do We Embrace Controversy?

Gospel Hope Archive | Sign Up for Our Resources |  The apostle Paul, in writing to Titus, a leader who he wants to give instruction to, writes,"For this reason I left you in Crete, that you should set in order the things that are lacking . . . For there...

We have, in our Christian faith, those who have gone before us. They are witnesses, who, by the testimony of their lives, have afforded to us footprints in which we can follow. The Church should never allow that their names are forgotten.

Now That Gives Me Joy

To the beloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth. Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. (3 John 2-4)

Keeping it Simple . . .

From Paul’s second letter to the believers in Corinth we read, “But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” (2 Corinthians 11:3)

Oh What An Inheritance We Have!

An inheritance. It is something I think we would know a lot about but, then again, we might need a refresher course on the subject. Why? Well note what Peter writes in his first letter,

Beware of Creepy Crawlers

Jude was intending to write to his brothers and sisters in Christ “concerning our common salvation,” to evidently extol to his readers a positive presentation of the doctrines of the Christian faith.

Now about that time Herod the king stretched out his hand to harass some from the church. Then he killed James the brother of John with the sword. And because he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to seize Peter also. (Acts 12:1-3)

Christ . . . plus . . . What?

The apostle Peter wrote “… as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of Him …  (2 Peter 1:3)

A Tell-Tale Heart

Now it came to pass when the king was dwelling in his house, and the LORD had given him rest from all his enemies all around, that the king said…

Flying Under Our Radar…

The author of Hebrews reaches a point in his letter where he has finished with the heart of his doctrinal teaching and begins to convey how we should subsequently act knowing what we now know. It is a common thread of apostolic teaching in the New Testament, to present positional truth followed by practical truths.

JESUS . . . Do You Know Who He Is?

The apostle Paul wrote to a body of believers in Colossae that were being subjected to teaching that undermined the person of Jesus, who was called the Christ.

See To It That No One Takes You Captive

The apostle Paul writes in his letter to the believers in Colossae, “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” (Col 2:8)  The New American Standard Bible begins with, “See to it that no one takes you captive…”
