Hope for Today: A Daily Devotion from Reasons for Hope*Jesus
Joshua 1:5-7, 9 “I will be with you. I will not leave your nor forsake you. Be strong and of good courage. Only be strong and very courageous. Do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
God calls upon us to be strong in faith, and strong faith will make men cheerful and courageous and enable them to overcome strong difficulties. Therefore, if your feet and heart are bound for Canaan, trust in the Lord to carry you safely through. Feeble as you are, go on and fear nothing, for God is with you. He that has but this one care and fear: not to displease Him, needs not care for or fear anything else. His safety is ensured in the promise of God, who will:
- keep him continually in all things
- sustain him by His almighty arm in every temptation and difficulty and danger,
- be a wall of fire to him on the right hand and on the left.
My soul, fear nothing but sin. Fear no one but God. If holiness is your element and God your friend, nothing can possibly harm you. All things must work together for your good. Grace here will lead you to glory in a better world. Trials and troubles will end in everlasting joy. Therefore, fear not.
