“Keep me as the apple of Your eye; hide me under the shadow of Your wings.” Psalm 17:8
He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.” Psalm 91:4
No one, O Lord, has more need continually to keep close to You in prayer and faith — and at the same time, no one is more unable to do it than I, the least of all Your flock! O that You would be graciously pleased to incline and enable me to pursue this blessed work!
While I truly rest on Your promise, my faith trusts in Your power and my soul hides under the wings of Your grace — I am sure of defense, power, and comfort. But as soon as I wander from You, I am in danger of losing the comfortable sense of these privileges and falling into various errors and perplexities. Therefore keep me by Your power, and sweetly solace me with Your love.
Guide me, O Lord, by Your counsel in this world, and at last, receive me into glory! Amen.
